A privately held non-bank financial institution that grew into a leading global consumer-finance provider, specialising in point-of-sale loans and financial inclusion. It ran an omnichannel model across roughly ten countries over 340,000 retail locations and a digital platform serving 100 million mobile users reaching 130 million cumulative customers and over 110,000 employees at peak. Its IT estate spanned 12 countries, 22 data centers, 80000+ desktops, and 15000+ servers.
The challenge
The group wanted to improve visibility into its Oracle software deployment and inadvertently enabling a single Oracle feature can trigger millions in unbudgeted true-up costs. To contain that compliance risk, leadership launched a global initiative to establish absolute visibility across all hardware and software assets.

Deployment
Universal Discovery mapped the estate and centralized the data within a few months. Sustaining that visibility in a fast-moving enterprise surfaced two challenges like rapid infrastructure drift (topology, server designs, and security policies changing daily without notice to the project team), and a resulting "chasing cycle" in which a small share of discovery jobs failed and the ITAM team continually chased undocumented configurations just to keep scans running.
Results
The team reframed failed scans as real-time alerts to infrastructure drift.
