Executive summary
Eywo doesn't just implement OpenText SMAX for enterprise clients, since March 2026 it runs its own business on it. The result is a live, in-daily-use reference implementation spanning external managed services and internal operations, that prospects can walk through rather than take on trust.
About Eywo
Eywo is a Czech enterprise IT consultancy specialising in Observability, ITSM, and Infrastructure & Platforms. Rapid growth in employees, clients, and projects prompted a rethink how to manage internal operatinal processes.
The challenge
Growth demanded better structure and visibility not only for internal processes, but to manage clients' services under the highest compliance standards. Eywo also wanted to be its own reference. A live environment to show prospects, walk through in workshops, and point to when someone asks whether SMAX really works in the real world.
The solution
Eywo chose OpenText SMAX on SaaS (SMAX is also available on-premises on Kubernetes). The platform covers two domains. External managed services and internal operations and is continuously extended.
Managed services
- Infrastructure Managed services: the Hosting team runs production workflows in SMAX, integrated directly with Zabbix so infrastructure events flow into service-management processes instead of a separate silo. Being extended with SMS and voice notifications for on-call and standby, incident routing into Slack, and automated VM inventory sourced from OpenNebula (Eywo's main IaaS platform).
- SLA management: Services & Storage users are onboarded and storage runs under SLA through a structured DEV-to-production flow, inbound emails automatically create and update requests, removing manual ticket entry. Being extended to more storage projects and broader email-to-request automation.
Internal operations
- HR & business operations: SMAX manages the employee card, asset register, and supporting catalogue across the full lifecycle (purchase, replacement, fault reporting), and drives onboarding of new employees and contractors — one place where hiring managers, HR, and finance collaborate. Being extended with ISO-driven refinements and vehicle-fleet evidence.
- Self-service infrastructure provisioning: users request virtual machines from the SMAX catalogue, and automation provisions and decommissions them on OpenShift with full CMDB evidence. Being extended to on-demand OpenShift spaces, publishing lab applications to the internet, VMware workloads, and lab-environment discovery.
Results
- Live and in daily use since March 2026, spanning classic ITSM (assets, internal operations, incident and request management) and advanced automation (self-service VM provisioning, OpenShift automation, VPN and access management).
- Eywo is now its own living reference for prospects . A working environment, not a slide deck, which tends to be far more convincing in regulated sectors where NIS2 and local cybersecurity requirements shape architecture decisions.
Lessons learned
- A partner's own live environment is far more convincing to prospects than any slide deck, being your own reference is a sales asset.
- Treating the platform as a continuously extended product, not a one-off deployment, means the reference keeps getting richer over time.
